Common Ground

To all the men out there, I can not stress enough, how important it is to hold onto your little girls. They may not share an interest in all things manly, but keep trying. Mark's love for wood working, and power tools is rubbing off on his three in pink. This year, thanks to a little help from Home Depot, Mark and his girls, dressed in orange aprons, made Easter baskets.

It Happened again

Ellie just had her second visit to the ER for stitches. I sat six feet away from her while she was searching the refrigerator. We were talking. the next second she was screaming. Somehow, someway she moved wrong and bit her bottom lip. I had to make the judgement call....Do I spare her the pain of having stitches now, and let her walk around the rest of her life with a very noticeable hole in her bottom lip? I knew what I had to do. She ended up with two stitches in her lip, and was very brave during the entire process. Afterwards, no one would have guessed anything happened. However, she requested a Happy Meal and a nap with me in my bed. All her wishes were granted.

I shook my head in disbelief that this happened while I was 6 feet away. No amount of baby proofing could have stopped this. I bit of "mom guilt" still hangs over me, but it's a wasted energy that comes with the territory. I guess one of life's lessons is that it doesn't matter how much children are micro managed, accidents will happen.

Imitation Is The Sincerest Form Of Flattery

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Thank you Tim Burton and Carina for making me smile on a cold and wet midwest day.

It's A Boy

I went to the local humane society to look at the puppies. Instead I saw a boy with his paws folded like a true gentleman. He came up to the window and cried for me. I knew nothing about him, and felt we were meant to be together. I went home that day without him. A week later I checked his file online and he was still available. I guess most people overlooked him because he was 5yrs old and weighed over 85lbs.

We all decided it was time to meet this dog. Mark was the first to spot him in his kennel that fateful day. Again, he was a perfect gentleman with his paws folded. When this boy was attacked by three grabby little girls, he didn't jump, or bark. Mark's only comment was "we are not going home without this dog." I already knew that, but needed him to say it.

Welcome home Oliver. You are the big hairy boss who captured my heart and took over my bed. I will love you forever. Sometimes a boy like you just needs someone to believe in him.
