Some days it's easy to lose focus on what is important. While I wouldn't think my life is overbooked, sometimes the emotions involved in moving three little girls from place to place can get the best of me. Today was supposed to be our busy day of running errands and library class after Abbey was dropped off at school. We were all dressed and ready to go by 7:30, but for some reason we just couldn't get out of the house. By 8:50 I called school to let them know Abbey would be absent. We spent a lazy morning watching TV in my room while I sorted some 7 large buckets of unfolded laundry, the girls jumped on my bed, we had an early lunch, and both babies fell asleep in my arms at their nap time. Abbey changed into her princess nightgown for comfort purposes. A common accurance most afternoons. Then she challenged me to a cut throat game of Diego Memory. Guess who won? We also shared a soda. Don't tell the dentist. In the end, only six of the seven buckets of laundry were put away. No one seemed to notice, but me.
Is it really that important for us to always have something on our agenda? Will the kiddos really remember their play groups, and toddler classes? Probably not. I do know that Abbey has grown up all too quickly, and Cari and Ellie are following close behind. I quote the words of Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." I couldn't agree more.
